Aom and Phuket Part 3

One of my favorite pictures of Aom. I use this on as a screensaver on my computer.

Phuket has an attraction called Fantasea. It's a great Vegas style family show on a loose history of Thailand. That's where she was when these pictures were taken. More on these later.
A street in Patong Beach.
Aom and the Beach. We stayed under this umbrella for 2 hours and I still got sunburned legs.

More of the Beach and Aom.

Aom and Phuket Part 2

Aom and the hotel Restaurant. She is such a ham.
Your's truly. Aom says I look like a little school boy.
Same spot as mine. Maybe you can get a size perspective. I call her my tiny Aom
A beautiful sunset. Looked better in person.

The entertainment area of Phuket. I thought my brother would get a kick out of an entertainment area named after him.

TEFL Graduate and New Job

Today, July 7th is graduation day. Finished with a B average and a nice certificate. Now elgible to teach English anywhere in the world. Nice group of people. We lost the English chap in the middle of the fifth week. He says he will try it again.

Went for three interviews and found the last one a dream job. It is through BFITS. They contract with different schools throughout Thailand. I landed a job in Northern Bangkok (about 15 Kilometers north of the airport). It is a brand new primary school (started in May) with kindergarden through 4th with 5th and 6th being added over the next two years. I will be teaching 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders (one class of each five days a week). They offered me the job last night and it is only a formality for the shool to accept. If all goes well I will start next week. The school currently has two other English teachers (all Americans - they also use an American curriculum). There are 400 students in the school and they will expand to 1500 over the next two years. They will issue me a labtop computer that I can use to research on the internet and use in the classroom (overhead connection). I have access to printer, scanner and copier (all in one). I have my own classroom and desk. I went to the school on Monday and the kids were just darling. They were waving at me. They thought I was Santa Claus (part time work in the fall?!?) The school has a a swimming pool (staff can use after hours). Lunch is provided free to the teachers (if you eat what the kids do).

From P Mansion to the school was over 30 minutes by cab. I will spend the day tomorrow finding a quicker and cheaper route to the school. Will move up there at the end of the month. The next report will be in a couple of weeks and I will write about my trip to Puket (this coming weekend - Tsunami hit area - hope to have pictures also) and my first week at school. Talk to you soon.
