New Digs
It has been almost 4 weeks since I moved into my new apartment and I want to tell you about it. As I said previously I got a job teaching 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students. The schools name is ChokChai and it is on Nyahokan road which is the main east to west road north of Bangkok. The south side of the road is in Bangkok and the north side is Rangsit. My apartment sits on 19/17 Moo 2 Baungyeetho about 4 clicks east of future Park mall (huge, bigger than Dayton Mall) and one click west of Dream World (Amusement park about the size of Americana).
SC Service is a six story L shaped building. The first two floors are hotel and service apartments. The top four are regular apartments. I have a two room apartment on the sixth floor. Many of the apartments are just one room. I bought my own TV, frig and Electric wok. The apartment building has a small restaurant and bar (the food is fair), 4 computers for internet use (only 50 cents an hour). A small convenience store selling your staples like soda, toliteries and beer.
The soi or moo I live on has about 4 or 5 beauty salons (no Mark there are no cows). At the head of the soi is a nice little night market with about 20 or 30 vendors selling food, knick knacks and CD's. There is also a 7-eleven (the country's most popular store) at the head of the Soi. There is a pharmacy, DVD shop, several small stores (7-11ish) and food stalls up and down the soi. I live about 3/4ths of a click down the soi. Everyone is friendly and the food is great. I enjoy the kids at school and hope the administration gets its act together and decides what it wants from their teachers. I talk more about the shool in the next posting. Also will write about my Visa run at that time.
